Below is an update from Sonya Sobrian regarding an emerging policy of using both male and female animals in clinical and preclinical research.  (see 8/20 email from me).  Sonya is a member of the Policy Workgroup.

“The 2 day workshop on the NIH policy of sex differences finished yesterday.  I unfortunately have not had the time to write a report.  However, we were informed that NIH would be asking for comments from the scientific community and the RFI came out today.  The website for comment is below.

I did receive feedback from some of our members and did get an exception regarding non-human primates as a recommendation for exclusion with justification.”
