Meredith College seeks qualified applicants to the position of Assistant Professor in Psychology. This full time (3-4 teaching load), tenure-track, teaching position will begin August 1, 2021.

Responsibilities: Required duties include teaching on campus at the undergraduate level, student academic advising and mentoring, college and departmental service, and engagement in scholarly and professional development.

Teaching responsibilities: The 21 credit hour (3-4) teaching load will include Research Methods I & II and General Psychology. Other courses taught will vary and may include offerings within the faculty member’s specialization designed for a general undergraduate audience.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Psychology from an accredited institution and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Must establish NC residency by August 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to implementing the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all areas of academic practice and will collaborate with other faculty in developing curriculum relevant to the needs of twenty-first century Psychologists.

Review of applications and nominations will begin February 24, 2021, and continue until the position is filled. Applications should include the following: letter of application, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching philosophy and professional goals, copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and a list of three professional references.

The Department of Psychology and Social Work is composed of four units, the undergraduate program in psychology, the masters’ program in industrial/organizational psychology, a CSWE accredited bachelor’s of Social Work, and a clinic for preschool-aged children on the autism spectrum. These four units work in close and collegial collaboration.
