A post-doctoral position is now available in the new Molecular Neurobiology of Behavior Laboratory at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). Research is focused on using a translational approach in mouse models and human biosamples to study the behavioral and molecular consequences of prenatal exposure to opioid drugs. The post-doctoral fellow will work on projects that improve how we model prenatal opioid exposure in mice, along with measuring social and cognitive behavior as primary outcomes of exposure. To understand the neurobiology of these behaviors, projects will examine brain gene expression patterns and use immunohistochemical approaches to assess brain tissue. The opportunity for work in the human population will be conducted via collaborations with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center through the Division of Neonatology in the Perinatal Institute.
